By far Ghostwood, directed by Justin O'Brien, is the biggest career challenge Cinematographer Pete Hall has ever faced. Pete was presented the opportunity to travel from his home town of Adelaide, South Australia to Dublin, Ireland to shoot his first feature film. He considered this opportunity too good to miss.
In November 2006 Pete won silver for his entry of Ghostwood in the South Australian / Western Australian ACS Awards (Australian Cinematographers Society) . Also in 2006 Pete picked up the 'Award of Excellence' in The Accolade Awards (LA, California, USA). Ghostwood was amongst the 'Best of Show' entries.

The QR Shoulder Pad is a two part system that includes the shoulder pad itself & a separate, but included, dovetail plate that screws into the bottom of your camera or baseplate just like an ordinary tripod plate. The lowBase Baseplate is designed for tall professional DSLR camera bodies such as the Canon 1D series, & Nikon D3S/ D4, as well as shorter camera bodies with battery grip (such as Canon 7D, 5D MK2/MK3, Nikon D800/e, etc.). The lowBase can also be used with RED Digital Cinema Scarlet & Epic cameras*.
The lowBase offers a solid baseplate with clamps for both front & rear 15mm rails (standard 60mm centre-to-centre spacing). Any tripod plate can be attached to the bottom with standard 1/4 or 3/8 screws.

With the FS700 Grip Relocator users can comfortably control start/stop of the camera & zoom while working shoulder mounted. The Sony removable grip features four easy-to-use buttons including Start/Stop, Photo, 4x/8x expandable focus, & push-button auto iris. The Sony grip comes with a 12" cable. We recommend adding this LANC extension cable for more flexibility.
(standard 3/8 16 & ¼ 20 tripod mount underneath) with 12" rods. The rods can slide back & forth to accommodate different lenses & accessories by flipping the red levers at the side of the plate. Attached to the front of the rods is the FS700 Grip Relocator. The Zacuto FS700 Grip Relocator attaches to the 15mm rod with Zacuto Zwivel technology. The rod running through the handgrip is threaded & can accept rod extensions or a Zacuto Z-Release mount like Zacuto's T-Mount or Tri-Mount to add lightweight accessories such as a microphone or small light.
The Zacuto QR Handle is a multipurpose top handle that can be used on the Red Scarlet & Epic cameras & other accessories such as the Zacuto Zwiss Cage. The handle is ideal for low-mode shooting & easy transport of your camera. The base of the handle attaches via (2) ¼” 20 screws (included) that are spaced 3/8" screw centre to centre at their closest to 2" 5/32" at their furthest. The Top Handle mounts to the base via Zacuto’s quick release Z-Rail system, allowing you to leave the base on the camera & remove the handle with the flip of a lever. The handle can be slid left or right on the Z-Rail to balance the camera’s centre of gravity.

Attached to the 3" Z-Rail is a Z-Rail Slide Mount. The Z-Rail Slide Mount clamps onto the standard Z-Rail & tightens with a quick release ratcheting lever. The Z-Rail Slide Mount can clamp forwards or backwards & slide up & down the Z-Rail for balance & accessory placement. It has a threaded rod port & can accept a Zacuto 15mm male rod. This allows you to attach a rod set at a right angle to the Z-rail. The top surface of the Z-Rail Slide Mount has a ¼ 20 tap for attaching a threaded articulating arm or accessory. In this kit attached is a Z-Rail Cheese Stick.
The Z-Rail Cheese Stick attaches to the Z-Rail Slide Mount with the included screws. It can be placed parallel to or across the mount. There are four ¼ 20 screw holes spaced two on either side of the centre. You can attach up to two Z-Rail Coldshoe pieces for hotshoe accessories like a mic or small light.
The fourth & final element is one Z-Rail Coldshoe. One side of the Cheese Stick can be used for a hotshoe accessory while the other is open for a 1/4" 20 accessory.

The Zacuto Studio Baseplate with 12" rods for Canon C100/300/500 is made specifically for the EOS C300/100/500 cameras. It is exceptionally flat which helps keep the centre of gravity low. This baseplate features a pair of 15mm rods that are 12” long running through the length of the baseplate. You can quickly reposition the rods for various lens lengths by loosening the 2 levers, one on each side of the baseplate.
On each side of the baseplate there is also a set of 15mm lightweight holes. The side holes take 15mm female rods that are locked via an Allen screw. This gives users a virtually unlimited amount of mounting options. With these side holes, you have the option of turning the baseplate into a cage configuration.
The top surface of the Z-Rail Slide Mount has a ¼ 20 tap for attaching a threaded articulating arm or accessory. You can attach the Z-Rail Coldshoe for any hotshoe accessories. Attached to the front of our rods is the ENG Grip Relocator for the Canon C100/300/500. The Canon removable camera grip attaches directly to the Grip Relocator & the exclusive cable connects to the port on your camera. Once its plugged in, users have trigger or on/off control, lens aperture control, & a programmable function button that can be set to a number of things including waveform, 1 to 1 zoom, zebras, my menu, & many more. The cable is 24" long.
The Zacuto Recoil is the ultimate balanced rig for the C100/C300/C500, Scarlet & Epic Cameras. With the Recoil concept, the camera sits directly on your shoulder like a typical ENG Camera. The Recoil starts with Zacuto's Gorilla Baseplate. It attaches to the camera with 3/8” 16 & ¼” 20 screws. The Gorilla Baseplate features 15mm diameter, 60mm spaced threaded rod holes in the front of the base plate that allow users to mount a Follow Focus, Lens Support or other accessories in front of the camera. The Gorilla Baseplate is not compatible for Matte-Box use unless it is height adjustable.
Unique to the Recoil is the use of the Zacuto Q-Release & Shoulder Pad. The Q-release allows you to mount the Shoulder Pad directly underneath the camera & be able to quickly release the Shoulder Pad from the rig by flipping two levers. This gives you two things: the ability to quickly attach the rig to a tripod & vice versa, & the ability to have the camera sit directly on your shoulder eliminating front heaviness. Coming off the front of the Recoil is Zacuto's dual handgrip system, the Zgrips V3.

The Canon C100/300 removable grip attaches directly to the Relocator handle & Zacuto's exclusive right angle cable connects to the port on your camera. The Recoil Lite is a stripped down version of the Recoil. The Recoil Lite is the ultimate balanced rig for the C100/C300/C500, Scarlet & Epic Cameras. With the Recoil concept, the camera sits directly on your shoulder like a typical ENG Camera. The Recoil starts with Zacuto's Gorilla Baseplate for C100/C300/C500, Scarlet & Epic. It attaches to the camera with 3/8” 16 & ¼” 20 screws. The C100/C300/C500 Target Shooter is Zacuto's most basic rig. It's designed for lightweight run’n’gun shooting. Power is delivered to the powerPack Universal from an external battery, such as an Anton Bauer or V-mount style battery brick. From there the powerPack Universal provides three power outputs: 2x 12v regulated or unregulated, & 1x variable voltage output from 5-12v. The variable output is typically used to power a camera, but can be used for any accessory with voltage requirements from 5-12v DC. The 12v output ports can also be used as unregulated power sources, should you require this.
A push button next to the powerPack’s LED alternates displaying the input voltage from the connected battery, & the output voltage of the variable voltage output. This gives you easy-to-read & understand details about your power so you know when to swap batteries.
The Redrock ultraCage add-on Top Handle extends the single top handle to a double top handle configuration. The add-on top handle creates the double top handle configuration which attaches to both the front & rear cage, offering increased stability & strength. It can be positioned facing forwards or backwards to maximize convenience & balance. The Z-Finder Mounting Frame for the Panasonic GH3 camera is specifically designed for a Panasonic GH3 & is not compatible with any other cameras or alternate set ups. It will not work when a battery grip is added to the camera or when the camera screen is articulated. Zacuto’s popular adhesive frame system is available for cameras with 3.2" screens. This fast, simple frame is a no frills solution for moving your Z-Finder quickly between cameras. This frame is compatible with every Z-Finder on the market.
In order to fit a standard Z-Finder for 3.0" screens to newer wider 3.2" LCD screens, Zacuto have modified the way it connects. It snaps into the frame with tabs on the side. This new connection method requires the use of an extender frame in order to connect securely.
D800 USERS: The Nikon D800 has a dial close to the screen that gets in the way of the 3.2” adhesive frame. Zacuto recommends D800 customers use the clear screen protector (part number BM-12) which is included with the camera to attach the sticky frame. When attaching to the BM-12 screen protector, only the top & bottom adhesive of the frame is used. The 3.2” sticky frames will be scored & marked so users can peel off the backing on the top & bottom only & keep the backing on the sides so the glue will not attract dirt & lint.

You can add rods, articulating arms, & even two Wireless Plate Pros to hold audio receivers or transmitters. The Zwiss plate is covered in 3/8 16” & ¼ 20” holes to mount threaded accessories. The Zacuto DSLR Baseplate is a highly configurable baseplate which is adjustable to accommodate tall & short body cameras & cameras with battery grips. It also has mounting points to attach just about anything. It comes with 2 3.5" rods.
The DSLR Baseplate can accommodate 15mm rods on all 4 sides. On the front are 2 levels for rods. The top is for mounting Follow Focus units, Matte-Boxes, Zoom/Focus Motors & Lens Support if space allows. The bottom rods are primarily used for Lens Support & single or double Hand Grips.

The height can be easily adjusted to align Matte-Boxes to suit the lens. The Universal Baseplate mounts to the camera with a 1/4 20" screw & a locking pin & it attaches to the tripod plate with both 3/8 16" & 1/4 20" screws. It also has a slide capability for balancing on the tripod.

The Zacuto Zeddie Wedgie, named by Philip Bloom, is for exclusive use with the Zacuto Universal Baseplate. It does not work on the Zacuto Mini Baseplate. It allows you to use the Zacuto Universal Baseplate & mount it to a VCT-U14 or VCT-14 tripod wedge plate - an industry standard plate found on all full size Sony & Panasonic ENG camcorders.
The Zacuto Mini Baseplate is a smaller version of the Zacuto Universal Baseplate. The Mini Baseplate has many of the same features as the Universal Baseplate but was designed for use with smaller HDSLR cameras. The Mini Baseplate can also be used with Mid-sized flat bottom cameras.
If you plan on using an FS100 or DSLR camera with the Universal Baseplate a Z-Spacer is required to raise the camera further to accommodate a Matte-Box.

Zacuto 36" Standard to Standard (big to big) HDMI Cable. This cable has two regular HDMI heavy duty swivable cable heads. It can be set at right angles in all directions to avoid strain on the cable. You can use this cable with any camera that has a standard HDMI output.
The Gorilla Plate attaches to your camera using the standard tripod screw hole. You can also mount your tripod plate underneath the Gorilla Plate so you can quickly go from handheld to tripod use. For mounting the Gorilla Plate to the tripod, it has (2) ¼ 20” screw holes & a locking pin hole. The Z-Finder frame attaches to the Gorilla Plate using two thumb screws.
If you need to mount the Z-Finder on an additional camera, an additional Gorilla Plate & Frame is required. This item must be sold with 1 of the 3 Z-Finder Mounting Frames, sold separately. The Gorilla Plate does not work with the DSLR baseplate as it uses its own quick release system.
Please Note: The tapped holes on the bottom of the Gorilla Plate are offset from the centre of the lens. This is only a concern if you are using the Gorilla Plate with other rigs that need the Matte-Box in line with the lens/mounting screw hole.
